Author Interview: Robyn Pierce

Today I bring you Robyn Pierce, paranormal romance writer.

Robyn Pierce

My Interview with Robyn:

What is the title or working title of your current book?

The book I’m currently working on is titled Masquerade.

Please provide us with a brief synopsis of your book.

Masquerade is continuing on the tales of the Lanistter family, taking the stories about the American branch of the family and starting them. In Masquerade, Lazarus Lanistter and Marie Lanistter are forced to host a masquerade ball so they can find someone they might consider to be their Mate. They both consider this to be a pain in the neck, but Lazarus is under more pressure than his sister: as the Crown Prince, his father will not allow him to take over the throne unless he has a woman by his side. Their best friend, Chastity West, is back at the castle, and Lazarus considers her, which makes Darius Hassanpour (Marie’s other best friend) finally show his true feelings. The fun is put to the side when a threat is revealed, stating that someone at the castle would be dead by the end of the night…

What genre does your current book fall under?

Masquerade is a paranormal roamance.

Do you always write for the same genre?

Right now, my main projects (The Lanistter Chronicles) are all paranormal romance. There are a few story ideas that I have saved off to the side. One of them is just a romance, nothing paranormal about it, and the other is another paranormal work, but it will focus more on the paranormal than the romance aspect.

Who or what motivates or inspires you to write?

Anything, really. I could be watching a movie or a show with my Gram and suddenly want to write something, and the same goes for reading the works of other people. Music is a big helper when I want to keep writing after I’ve already begun.

Tell us about your writing background.

I started writing when I was fifteen, in my Geometry class. Somehow, I don’t think that teacher expected that those two quiet kids in the back of the room were really writing stories instead of paying attention to his tales of his own life… Two years later, though, I had a writing teacher who read a watered-down version of what is now Masquerade, and she told me she would help me to try to get that published. After that, it kind of spun out of control and turned into a seven-book series.

How long does it typically take you to write a first draft?

It depends on what is going on in my life. Darkest Embrace only took me one month to write the first draft. Destructive Embrace, on the other hand, took a while longer because I had to deal with stresses in school, as well as sickness. Masquerade is already 1/3 of the way done with its actual first draft, and I hope for it to be done in the next two months.

Do you employ an editor to assist you in your writing process?

I do not. However, I have beta readers who help me pick out things here and there when my eyes are too used to seeing the errors.

Are you self-published or represented by an agency?

I’m self-published.

Do you have future projects we can look forward to?

Oh, yes. Masquerade will be followed by a sequel called Unmasked,  and after that, there are at least three more books in The Lanistter Chronicles, not counting Reid’s Journal.

Do you have any tips or advice to offer fellow writers?

Don’t stop writing. Even if you think it might be bad, keep going if writing is what you’re passionate about. I can’t imagine what I’d be doing now if I’d given up on it back in high school.

Is there anything else you would like to share with your potential readers?

I hope you’re able to really connect with my characters. ^-^

Tell us how we can connect with you in the world of social.

As you know I love the genre paranormal romances:-)

Robyn is so right when she says that anything could inspire her to write. Works the same way for me and it happens when I least expect it.

I have always disliked math. I would probably have been doing the same thing.

Math was my best subject in school so she had my attention she talks about writing in Geometry. Loved the review as always. :-)
