Motivational Monday – 2/4

“Rough waters are truer tests of leadership. In calm water every ship has a good captain.”

~Swedish Proverb

This quote builds on what most of us already know to be true. It’s the tough times that build and reflect our character. So even though it’s hard to be thankful for those rough waters, in the end our light shines through for others to see. You are like the Lighthouse beacon. Perhaps others will look at you and say, “If they can do it, so can I.”

Have a great week everyone!

I went through a very tough time a few years back and I can assure you that I'd rather be a captain in a calm sea.

Be the lighthouse…. be the lighthouse… I guess just as important, be brave enough to spot the beacon and follow it :)

Besides, calm water always reminds me of that last scene in "Friday the 13th."

This quote is so true and if you have ever been in tough times you know there is smooth water ahead.

If only that wisdom would be top of mind when the waters ARE rough. Or else we can hope our memories are that good!

I agree with Jon in that we need the experience that rough waters can provide in order to learn how to endure and move on.

Sometimes you feel like all you have is rough waters. At least that is where we have been. The good part is when you spend your time in the rough waters you learn how to weather the storm. You have no chance of leading through the rough waters if you have never experienced them.

Good quote, Cheryl. Thx for sharing.

It's so true that everything is easier when times are good. And that only those of us with perseverance and determination will stay the course (staying with the nautical theme.) Happy journeys. :-)

    That quote is spot on!!

Most leaders cannot handle the rough waters:-) Why? Because they are managers…

So true. Success has many friends, where failure you stand alone. But in that failure comes true learning and ultimate success. Just my thoughts. :-) ))

    I like lighthouses. ;-)

And when we are not in rough waters, we should be preparing our physical and mental bodies for them, so that when they come, we are ready!! :-) I'm not having rough waters at the moment, so I'm in prep mode.
